Portfolio of Initiatives

Michael Lovell

Component Summary

Ideate freely, test rigorously.

The Skhema Method diverges away from broad strategy frameworks towards a more prescriptive approach with an emphasis for increasing repeatability and increasing confidence in decision-making.
When building a portfolio of initiatives we are encouraged to ideate freely with a commitment to refining ideas into testable hypotheses. As a precondition, solution alternatives shouldn't proceed to any further consideration until a test validates the hypothesis.
By taking a deliberate experimental approach we help answer the questions 'what do we need to learn' and 'what do we need to be true'.
While it is possible to build a portfolio of initiatives independent or prior to conducting a diagnosis, it's important to avoid investing in a product or service without any clear definition of the problem to be solved.
